Kathy Brooks, Lead Park and Recreation Program Assistant at Ascher Silberstein Elementary, is this month’s SEL Guiding Principles Environment Superstar. Brooks has created a Mood Meter that allows students to check in as they enter the After School learning environment.
She is also taking her engagement one step further by asking parents to perform an emotional check-in when their child is picked up from school at the day. This is a great way to begin engaging parents and caregivers in SEL practices. Brooks also created a bulletin board for all students (In School and After School) to reflect on how their decisions impact their success. Brooks demonstrates that enhancing the environment leads to student success for all! Way to go Kathy!
