Laura Perez, Second Grade Teacher at Edwin J. Kiest Elementary is this month’s SEL Guiding Principles Engagement Superstar. Perez is always a great listener when talking with students and staff. Perez models engagement by fully participating in all of the SEL efforts at her campus and she has also taken on the leadership role on campus of SEL Champion.
Recently, Kiest organized staff and students into the Ron Clark House System, and Ms. Perez has taken on the role of House Leader for the Rêveur House . Perez excels at using active listening skills when communicating with students, staff and community members. Perez is able to build authentic relationships more quickly because people feel that she really listens to them. Thank you, Ms. Perez for being such an exemplary model of engagement! Way to go!!!
