Second Grade teacher, Jose Leon, at Kiest Elementary is the Guiding Principles Superstar for Engagement. Mr. Leon and other second grade staff designed interactive activities for students to showcase their learning in creative ways.
During the first week of Distance Learning, the staff designed a Weekend Challenge that not only engaged the students in learning, but also helped them to feel reassurance that everything will be alright! Students were able to connect with their teachers and returned the positive affirmation. Students could choose their product – some made a poster while others dressed up in a homemade costume to send a positive message to others.
